Welcome to Nutrissage!

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to...  have energy, health and vitality again!

Our North American way of living is incredibly taxing to the body, mind, and even spirit. We are constantly rushing from one thing to the next, and living lives that are filled with stress, poor sleep, and often poor nutrition, now matter how hard we try to "live clean".

At Nutrissage, we aim to provide your body with the help it needs to achieve and maintain balance - so that you can fight off the detrimental effects of day to day stresses on your health, and find a way to not just live, but thrive!

We do that by providing nutritional consulting (coming August 2021), as well as offering a series of classes focusing on healthy, nurturing touch and self-care.

Come join us, and find your joy again!

About Us

Our Approach

We believe that the human body has an incredible capacity to heal and regain balance, in all of it’s systems. By giving the body the nutrients that it needs, it is astonishing what you can accomplish! We firmly believe that this can be done without feeling “deprived” or “restricted”.

Alongside that, we also recognize the importance of human touch. Human beings need touch in order to not only survive, but to thrive!

Because of this, we offer both nutritional consultation (including some delicious recipes!) as well as instruction in basic relaxation massage techniques that help develop closeness and human bonding.

Our Story

Kim Umphrey has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2009. She has always had a fascination with the human body and how it works, and is passionate about the work that she does.

Kim has had metabolic issues for many years, and has done a lot of personal research into nutrition and how that affects the body. In 2020, the year of the Virus, she made the decision to seek out formal education in nutrition and obtain professional qualifications in holistic nutrition.

Kim also loves cooking, and experimenting with new recipes and flavours. She decided to combine all of this into her new business, Nutrissage.

Classes & Events

We are offering classes that are live, through video! To attend, you need an internet connection, and a computer or tablet that has a camera. Viewing the class would not work very well if viewed through a phone, and, as these are practical classes, where you are practicing various massage techniques, the instructor has to be able to view you, as well.

Current Offerings:

  • Baby Massage with Kim and Baby Suzy – currently offered on Saturday, February 20th at 10:00AM – Click Here To Book Now!
    • Come join Kim and Baby Suzy for an hour of learning how to massage your baby! This class is a live, online class done over video designed for parents and caregivers. One class spot per caregiver/baby couple.

Future Offerings:

  • Comfort Measures for Childbirth
  • Basic Massage for Friends and Family

Have an idea for a class you would like to see? Please drop us a line at admin@nutrissage.ca, and let us know!

Resources

Prenatal Resources

  • The Birth Partner – by Penny Simkin (book)
Anything by Penny Simkin is worth reading, but this is a fantastic book specifically designed to help those who are helping the labouring mother-to-be!
This is a great resource of information on ensuring good tissue health and positioning of the baby inside the mother. This helps with not only pain issues during pregnancy, but can also help encourage a faster, easier labour!
Fabulous resource for anything to do with pregnancy and childbirth! Chock-full of research and proper studies, as well as a section with practical suggestions on how to help a labouring mother-to-be!
Another offering from Penny Simkin, this is a great resource for anyone who just wants to “know what we need to know for the Big Day”!
This is the website for a breastfeeding clinic started by Dr. Jack Newman, who is internationally known for his expertise in helping women breastfeed their babies (born or adopted). Includes access to information sheets, as well as videos. Be aware, while breastfeeding is a completely normal process, and breasts should never be sexualized while performing their primary function (feeding babies), the videos do show graphic close-ups of nipples and breastfeeding. This is necessary to provide the information, and is not gratuitous in nature.

Sciatica Stretches

This article demonstrates several stretches which have been shown to help with sciatica (piriformis syndrome) pain. Just remember to keep your back straight, move slowly, and always listen to when your body has had enough!
